Description: |
Black Cohosh is a female hormonal tonic. It reduces luteinising hormone, which is produced by the pituitary gland. Levels of luteinising hormone rise during the menopause; this is thought to be one of the main causes of hot flushes and vaginal dryness. The phytooestrogenic (plant compounds which act in a similar way to oestrogen) action helps to ease menopausal symptoms without the possible side effects of HRT. Black Cohosh can be beneficial in helping with perimenopausal PMS and reducing nervous tension, which builds up during strong hormonal activity. |
